Contextualization:

This is a basic core subject, which includes theory and practice, and belongs to “Mechanical specific Technology”. The goals are:

  1. Provide a broad understanding of the techniques of computer aided design (parametric design).
  2. Develop strategies and procedures to solve graphic problems.
  3. Enable students to understand the tasks, synthesize ideas and use the technical drawing as a way of fluent communication. Understand and make blueprints fluently.
  4. Acquire group project skills as means of exchange knowledge among other engineers.
  5. Use of standards

Coordinator: Ramón Rubio García

Requirements:

It is recommended to have studied Graphic Expression. On the other hand, it is advisable to know how to sketch, use drawing software and get by with references.

Competences and learning results:

The skills learned in this subject are:

  • Ability to solve design problems with creativity
  • Ability to work with standards
  • Ability to work in groups
  • Ability to work in other languages
  • Ability to understand and represent blueprints, technical drawings of mechanisms

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

R1. Draw technical drawings of parts and assemblies.

The schedule and contents could be modified due to the number of students enrolled in the course and/or calendar issues.

Due to health issues, some online actiities could be included during the course. All the students will be informed on time.

Assessment of students learning:

7.1. Continuous assessment

The participation ratio of each qualification system is:

All the students have to attend at more than 80% of the classes (both, theoretic and practice) to be evaluated in the continuous assessment.

The final qualifications will depend on:

1.      A1: First of all, there will be a theoretical exam with a weigh of 3 points.

2.      A2: The active participation of the student in the lecture room throughout the semester will be assessed as well. This assessment will weighs 2 points.

3.      A3: All the students who want to be assessed during the semester within the continuous assessment have to do a group project. It weighs 4 points (one of them will assess the presentation).

4.      A4: The participation of the student in the CAD room will be assessed as well. This assessment will weighs 1 point.

Additional considerations:

  • To success in every evaluation scheme, the students should obtain at least 5 points out of 10.
  • If a student fails because of not achieving the borderline mark, the final mark will be 4 (or the addition of the parts if the sum up less than 4).
  • The qualification will be retained only during the academic year.
  • The student who do not do the group project will have to do an individual one in an extraordinary assessment

7.2. Regular Assessment

Those students who do not pass the continuous assessment should repeat the theoretical and laboratory exam (A1 and A4) with the same characteristics than the first one (done during the continuous assessment).

If the student does not pass the continuous assessment, they will have to correct their errors according to the lecturer indication.

7.3. Extra Assessment

Those students who do not pass neither the continuous not the regular assessment have to repeat the theoretical and laboratory exam (A1 and A4) with the same characteristics than the first one (done during the continuous assessment).

In this case, if there were a student that has not passed the group project (A3), he would have to do a similar project (given by the teachers and with the same value than during the continuous assessment).

Due to health issues, some online actiities could be included during the course. All the students will be informed on time.
